Carl Moll (1861-1945)
painter & Alma´s stepfather

Alma´s mother´s second marriage was to her husband´s pupil and assistant, the painter Carl Moll, a blond colossus with whom she had been conducting an affair for some time. Her growing daughter Alma reacted with bitterness. As co-founder and business manager of the Viennese Sezession, he was an indispensable organizational and financial genius in the new artists´ association. In the 1930s he became a committed Nazi. When, in 1945, the Russians marched into Vienna, he committed suicide in his villa.
